12.1 - Courses, Training Manuals, Case Studies Online Theory Session, Certification and Continuing Education
Brighton Holistics uses a computerised education system called a “Moodle” (we call this the Learners Portal) for all courses. This system is used across all education levels and is easy to use. You will need to have basic computer skills to use this system. An email will be sent to you on your training day, giving you the information, you need to access this system. Please note that we do not email manuals or send out training manuals before the course start date.
12.2 - Terminology: The terminology used within any the Brighton Holistics manuals and courses is not designed to cause offence or upset to anyone. The terminology used was acceptable at the time of course production and passing the accreditation process. However, in these changing times, some names or language used may potentially now be classed as offensive. Brighton Holistics works tirelessly to make sure that our manuals and course work is inclusive to all groups. Brighton Holistics, unfortunately, cannot be held responsible for terminology which may now offend. Some vocabulary is required to explain different forms, methodologies or conditions. This is out of Brighton Holistics' control as it may be an accreditation or learning outcome requirement. At no time is any offence meant against any individual or group.
12.3 - Training Manuals: Will be downloadable to each learner via their online Learning Portal. These manuals will be available to download for 60 days once your course has started. It will be the learner's responsibility to download and save their training manuals within this time. Manuals can be read on all devices.
12.4 - Case Studies: Each qualification course (level 2, 3 and 4) will require case studies. A short course may also require you to complete case studies to obtain a full diploma certificate. This information will be shown on the relevant course website page. All case studies will need to be uploaded to the Learners Portal. It is the learner’s responsibility to make sure that all work is saved and backed up. Once the learning outcomes have been achieved, and you have completed your course, the Learners Portal will be saved and archived, and you will no longer have access to this course.
12.5 - Certification: On a Short Diploma / CPD course, you will be required to upload a copy of your Level 3 qualification to the Learners Portal before certification can be issued. This is a requirement from the course accreditor. It is the learners’ responsibility to ensure they have the required pre-course requisite before booking onto a course.
12.6 - Online theory: Once you have confirmed a Zoom Theory session this becomes a confirmed tutorial session, the same as a tutorial day in class. Cancelling a Zoom theory sessions will be treated as a cancelled tutorial day and can lead to your course being deferred or you having to pay an additional £50 per hour to reschedule the theory session. All relevant theory sessions must be completed to complete your course, as 100% attendance is still required for all courses.
12.6a - Online theory: Meeting etiquette.
- Please make sure you arrive to the meeting waiting room on time.
- Please make sure that your webcam is turned on and positioned correctly. Anyone who turns their webcam off will be asked to leave the meeting.
- Please be mindful of background noise. If you can, mute your microphone and only turn it on to ask a question or for conversation.
- Please ensure that you will have minimal distractions during the meeting. This includes, family, pets, phones etc.
- Please make sure that email, text messages and mobile phone notifications are turned off on your phone and computer.
- Please remember that you are attending a training session, therefore the same etiquette applies as it would in the classroom. Don’t try to multi-task during this training session.
- Zoom sessions are classed as face to face learning as they are interactive, so please feel free to interact like you would in the classroom and ask questions, but make sure the presenter is aware that you wish to ask one by indication on Zoom that you want to ask a question using the wave icon or just raising your hand, so that as much as possible, only one person at a time is talking to allow for everyone to listen.
- Please also be aware that someone in the group may have hearing or learning difficulties so be supportive of this. If you didn’t hear or understand something which was said, please ask for the tutor to repeat or rephrase their statement. It is more difficult for us to judge comprehension through body language online, as it would be in person.
12.7 - If you complete a Short Diploma / CPD course but choose to complete with a CPD certificate, we will not be able to offer a diploma certificate after the CPD certificate has been issued. For further information on the difference between CPD and Diploma certification, please click here. Please note that we do not offer a CPD certificate for Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Oncology Massage Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage or Oncology Reflexology.
12.8 - Certification for all our courses is sent via email. This is sent to you once you have met the learning outcomes and final assessments. We aim to have all the certifications sent to you within seven working days. If you wish to receive a paper copy of your certification a postage and packing fee of £5.95 will apply.
12.9 - Certification will be issued under the name you gave at the time of booking. Please make sure you keep copies of manuals and certificates as duplicates will not be issued.
12.10 - Please also note that if you fail to log in to the system for 60 days, the system automatically removes you, and all uploaded work and grades will be deleted. It is the learners’ responsibility to log in and keep the system updated, not Brighton Holistics. Brighton Holistics will not be responsible for work which is lost or deleted.
- Brighton Holistics - Registration and Certification Policy - Please click here for further information.

After this time, you will be required to take the full Level 3 qualification and not an APL qualification.
12.12 – To qualify for an APL your original qualification must be a recognised level 3 qualification, which meets the National Occupational Standard and the Core Curriculum. Once an assessment notification has been published, Brighton Holistics will not chase you to confirm the date. Assessment dates are set by the internal assessor, external assessor and external verifier not Brighton Holistics.
14.3 - Please note that attending the practical assessment does not mean that you have passed. There will be a fee of £125 for this additional assessment, which will take place on the next planned assessment date.
14.4 - Please note that the assessment can be stopped at any time by the client/model or the assessor if either feels that the standards are not being met. The reasons for stopping the assessment will be explained and documented on the assessment paperwork.

Brighton Holistics Assessment Malpractice Policy
The aim of this policy is to ensure that there are no acts that seek to undermine the integrity and validity of assessment and the certification of the qualifications.
The term malpractice covers any deliberate actions, neglect, default or other practice that compromises, or could compromise:

Intervention and Support for Students
Students will be taught the process and appropriate formats for recording cited texts and other source materials or other materials including websites through face to face feedback sessions, study skills class and online formative feedback.
It is necessary for all students to sign a declaration for all assessed work to authenticate that it is their own work. This will ensure that when any incidents of malpractice have been identified or suspected, it would be considered as evidence which may be used in any investigation. The students must be made aware of this on each occasion that the document is being signed, confirming that they are agreeing to the statement. As a result of signing the statement which states that: “the work is their own”, prior to signing.

- Compromises attempt to compromise or may compromise the process of assessing the integrity of any qualification or the validity of an exam result or certificate; and/or damages the authority, reputation or credibility of Brighton Holistics, awarding body or any officer or employee.
- The Management team takes seriously any suspected or reported case of malpractice or maladministration, which may be the result of a deliberate act, neglect, or failure in practice or system, or due to actions of an individual(s).
- Brighton Holistics will take appropriate disciplinary actions against the alleged/reported malpractice staff and the awarding body will be informed if deemed appropriate depending on the seriousness of the matter.
- Should students or others wish to report possible malpractice or maladministration they should contact the Principal of Brighton Holistics on 01273 672 690.
Stage 1 - Review
Students or staff members may request a review of the decision made following the above process. The review is conducted by a panel consisting of representative(s) of the Tutor, IQA, assessor. The panel will consider the report made initially on the malpractice incident, imposed penalties as well as any new information or evidence subsequently provided by other relevant parties. Following a review, the initial decision may be upheld or overturned, or upheld but with a change to the penalties originally imposed.
Stage 2 – Appeal:
If the student or staff member does not agree with the outcome of the review, they have the right to take the process to Stage 2, which would involve an independent review of the case. An appeal at Stage 2 will only consider whether the panel set by Brighton Holistics at the review stage applied its procedures consistently, properly and fairly during the original investigation and/or the Stage 1 review and will cover any inconsistencies if noted.
The appeal panel will have had no involvement with the assessment or the administration of assessments and have no personal interest in the decisions under consideration.
The appeal panel may uphold the original decision, or overturn it on the grounds that procedures were not properly followed. The appeal panel will not review the original investigation.
The Principal of Brighton Holistics is responsible for ensuring that all parties affected by decisions on malpractice or maladministration are informed of the outcome of the above processes.
Reporting to the Awarding Body:
Malpractice or attempted acts of malpractice that have influenced the assessment outcomes will be immediately reported to the Awarding Body and in cases of malpractice to the qualifications regulator if there's evidence that results or certificates may be invalid.
Oversee all investigations into suspected or alleged malpractice; withhold the issuing of results until the conclusion of the investigation, or permanently, where the outcome of the investigation warrants it; apply the sanctions and penalties listed in this document in cases of proven malpractice; report the matter to the regulators and other awarding bodies in accordance with the regulators’ General Conditions of Recognition and report the matter to the police if proven malpractice involved the committing of a criminal act.
Brighton Holistics and the Awarding Body reserve the right, in suspected cases of malpractice, to withhold the issuing of results or certificates while an investigation is in progress.
